Border Security Force (BSF) has announced new job posts of Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic). The total number of job openings is 1121. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The education needed for these two jobs is a little different:

For Head Constable (Radio Operator):

  • Option 1: You should have passed 12th class (with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) from a recognized board with at least 60% marks in these three subjects.
  • Option 2: You must have passed 10th class and also have a 2-year ITI certificate in one of these trades: Radio & TV, Electronics, Computer Operator & Programming, General Electronics, Data Entry, or related computer work.

For Head Constable (Radio Mechanic):

  • Option 1: You should have passed 12th class (with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths) with at least 60% marks in those subjects.
  • Option 2: Passed 10th class and have a 2-year ITI certificate in a trade like Electronics, Electrician, Fitter, Mechatronics, Computer Hardware, Network Technician, Data Entry, or similar.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 25 years

The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the Government of India rules:

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): Up to 28 years
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): Up to 30 years

Application Process and Fees

The application process is completely online. No offline applications will be accepted.

Here’s how you can apply:

  2. First, do the One-Time Registration (OTR) using your email and mobile number. This will give you a username and password.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Written Examination (CBT):
    • This is the first screening stage. It is an objective-type test with 100 questions for a total of 200 marks.
    • The exam duration is 2 hours.
    • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

    Subject-wise distribution:

    • Physics: 40 Questions (80 Marks)
    • Mathematics: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
    • Chemistry: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
    • English & General Knowledge: 20 Questions (40 Marks)
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

    Candidates who qualify for the written exam will be called for PST and PET.

    • PST for Males: Height - 168 cm, Chest - 80-85 cm (expandable)
    • PST for Females: Height - 157 cm
    • PET for Males: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds, Long Jump (11 feet), High Jump (3.5 feet)
    • PET for Females: 800-meter run in 4 minutes, Long Jump (9 feet), High Jump (3 feet)
  3. Document Verification: Your original certificates will be checked to confirm all the details you gave in the form.
  4. Dictation Test & Paragraph Reading Test: This step is only for those applying for Head Constable (Radio Operator).
  5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) & Review Medical Examination (RME): A full body check-up will be done to see if you are physically and medically fit for the job.

The final selection list will be made based on how well you do in the written exam, but you must also pass all other stages to be included.
